We were recently informed that monies for 4-H premiums will not be received for the 2010 fair due to state funding. At this time we are not planning on any premiums being paid for the 2010 4-H Show. This pertains only to Ribbons Blue, Red, and White.
Remember to keep in mind that the fair is the culmination of the 4-H year, but throughout the year you have gained valuable skills and knowledge. Through this process you continued to "Make the Best Better".
4-H youth wristbands will be available (TBA) for 4-H youth ages 8-19. Wristbands will be grouped by club and will be sold to club leaders or a representative from the club. Full payment for the wristbands is expected at time of pick-up. Wristbands will be $2.00 each member. The club decides how the club will receive money from each member or if the club will pay a part or all of the cost.
It is the FAMILY'S responsibility to make arrangements for picking up the wristbands from the leader if you do not attend your club meeting.
Cloverbud members are free to get into the fair. Remember, we go by the child's age as of September 1, 2009.
You may purchase a season past or a single day pass in advance through the McHenry County Fair Office in building D or pay individual at the fair gate.
Youth assistance is needed during the judging of the general 4-H projects on Monday, August 2 and Tuesday, August 3 as recorders, runners, and moving and setting up displays. Please contact Cindy Harris to volunteer. There will be training on Monday, July 19 at 7 pm at the Extension Office.
With the decrease in Extension Staff, this year volunteers are needed throughout fair judging and the fair. Examples of where help is needed are state fair entries, overseeing judging areas on Monday and Tuesday, display set-up, 4-H night, proofing ring books after each judging event, etc. There will be a volunteer training on July 22 at 7 pm at the Extension Office. For more information or to volunteer contact Cindy Harris at 815-338-3737.
There will be a meeting for all superintendents on Thursday, July 8 at 7 pm at the Extension Office. Information will be shared on changes, review risk management guidelines, etc. Mark your calendar now for July 8.
Please go to www.web.extension.illinois.edu/state4h/members/fairsandexhibits.cfu
and complete a model release form for any person who may be in your 4-H photo for the fair. Please bring this release with you at the time of judging.
