Japanese Beetles

Posted by John Fulton -

The beginnings of the Japanese beetle emergence is underway now. Small groupings have been seen feeding on field weeds and trees.

Field crop control measures are warranted when beetles are doing 30% defoliation on soybeans prior to bloom, 20% defoliation after bloom, and during pollination of corn when 3 or more beetles are clipping silks and pollination is not complete.

Products include most of the synthetic pyrethroids, Sevin XLR plus, and Lorsban 4E in some instances.
