Welcome to the Real World
During the month of April, 457 students from Chatham Middle School and Southeast High School participated in the Welcome to the Real World! Simulation, which is centered on workforce preparation. The participants explored potential careers or occupations that they would like to pursue in the future. After deciding on a career, they received a monthly salary based on their career choice and proceeded through the simulation. They learned about tax deductions, determining a savings amount, and paying off student loans, if applicable. They were able to spend their "salary" on the necessary and not so necessary other items that reflect the career and lifestyle they had chosen.
