Extension Unit News
Meet Terri Miller the New Unit 16 Extension County Director
I am very excited to introduce myself as your new Logan, Menard and Sangamon Counties (Unit 16) Extension Director. I grew up in the Nokomis area and began my career as a teacher at Litchfield High School. I then went on to head up the marketing department at an auction and real estate company where I helped the firm establish one of the first live on-line internet auction services in the nation. After six years in the auction business, I opened my own website design and marketing firm which I operated for over ten years, and during this time I was voted the 2007 Hillsboro Chamber Member of the Year.
I also worked in the Montgomery County Clerk's office where I programmed election ballots "in-house," resulting in substantial savings for the office. Before accepting this position, I headed up publicity and promotional duties for Extension Unit 18 serving Christian, Jersey, Macoupin and Montgomery counties.
I hold a Master of Public Administration from the University of Illinois Springfield with a certificate in Community Planning. I received my undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. I am a member of the Pi Alpha Alpha Public Administration honor society and was selected as class Marshal. I also received the UIS Alumni Association Student Leadership Award, and am a member of the American Society of Public Administration.
I have always been active with community and economic development efforts serving as the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce President for two terms, as well as Chairman of the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation. I also served on the Board of Directors for the Litchfield Chamber of Commerce. I live on my family farm outside of Hillsboro with my two daughters Alexandra and Lauryn and our many farm animals.
To me, the most important question I ask myself each day is 'What can I do to help others?' I love working with people throughout the community to solve problems and find solutions. I have a deep love for education and believe knowledge is key to understanding and solving societal challenges. Everyday Extension is working in our communities to change lives. I am grateful to be a part of such a wonderful organization!
I encourage the public to reach out to me with questions, suggestions, and concerns by contacting the Logan County Extension office at 217-732-8289, the Menard County Extension office at 217-632-7491, or the Sangamon County Extension office at 217-782-4617 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
It is my honor and privilege to serve you!
Terri Miller, MPA
