Logan 4-H Members place in top ten at 4-H State Shotgun Shoot

The Illinois 4-H State Shotgun Shoot was held on September 16th at the Brittany Shooting Park near Bunker Hill.  More than 60 teens competed for top awards and the chance to represent Illinois in national competition.

Participants from the Logan County 4-H Shooting Sports club included Landon Alcorn, Brandon Batchelder, Brayden Rohlfs, Ethan Sanborn, Maison Sherman, and Makayla Stewart.   Placing individually in the top ten at the state shoot were Brayden Rohlfs in fifth place and Brandon Batchelder in tenth place.  In photo above, Rohlfs is at far right of front row and Batchelder at far right of back row.

The scores of Batchelder, Rohlfs, Sandborn, and Sherman combined to earn the second place ranking as a team at the State Shoot as well.  Bill “Birddog” Kennett was coach for the Logan County 4-H Shooting Sports participants and is leader of the local 4-H Shooting Sports club.

Illinois’ national 4-H shooting sports team will be determined from results of this competition. Support for the national team is provided by the Illinois 4-H Foundation.

Contact Amy Hyde at the Logan County Extension office at 732-8289 for information about joining the Logan 4-H shooting sports club. Adults interested in serving as a volunteer instructor are encouraged to contact the office for information about upcoming training.
