  • State Fair Jr. Horse Show Scholarship PDF
We are reintroducing the State Fair Jr. Horse Show Scholarship program this year. Two volunteers have stepped forward and solicited donors for the t-shirts that will be sold at the show. Funds from the t-shirts provide scholarships to 4-H and/or FFA youth who have been selected from applications. The application has been revised and will be available via the portal shortly. It is also attached to this email. Because of the revisions to the Illinois 4-H website, this will not be able to be posted to the website for members to download, HOWEVER, I have posted it to Box, so you have a link that you can use to promote this scholarship to your State Horse Show members: https://uofi.box.com/s/5kkczkfwz8fk9eqaatvqxis2ueiz5c28. This scholarship application is open to currently enrolled 4-H and FFA members who are in their senior year of high school or freshman year of college AND who have exhibited at the State Fair Jr. Horse Show at least once within the past THREE years. Applications are in type-in .pdf format; hand-written applications will not be accepted. Application submissions must be postmarked by September 15, 2016 in order to be accepted for judging. Scholarship awards will vary in number and amounts depending upon total funds raised and number of applications. Note: This is NOT strictly a 4-H scholarship program (like our Legacy of Leadership and Livestock Scholarships), but one that is provided for both 4-H and FFA members by the volunteers and donors who support the State Fair Jr. Horse Show.

  • Superior Young Producer Scholarship
The Superior Young Producer Scholarship Program is offered by the Illinois State Fair to 4-H and FFA members who are exhibiting in any of the following species at the State Fair: Beef, Sheep, Swine, Dairy, and Horses. This contest-driven scholarship requires that the youth be a current exhibitor at the State Fair in the species for that contest. (For example, you must be exhibiting Sheep at the current State Fair in order to compete in the Sheep SYP contest.) Youth participate in several contests; five overall winners in each species receive $1,000 scholarships. Contests may include judging, skill-a-thon/hippology stations, management test, meat identification, and/or quality assurance testing. Registration is due by July 1; forms are available on the Illinois State Fair website, under Competitions and the Junior Livestock Premium Book.
