National 4-H Week Theme Announced

The 2008 National 4-H Week theme will be "Keeping it Green." With 4-H's connection to environmental efforts, youth participating in environmental science, and 4-H's new partnership with Nickelodeon's The Big Green Help, "Keeping it Green" shows how 4-H is bridging old ideas with new to teach youth environmental stewardship and connecting youth to science-related issues. The green theme also can showcase 4-H beyond the environmental focus as 4-H's green brand is a direct connection to the organization as a whole.

Materials will be posted to www.4-HBrandNetwork.org starting the week of August 18th. If you need anything else, let us know.

McLean County Fair attendees contribute funds to help Kansas 4-H Foundation

Those in attendance at the Sunday morning Interdenominational Worship Service at the Interstate Center donated more than $800 to help Greensburg, Kansas Kiowa County 4-H. An additional $500 was also donated by the Timeless Clovers 4-H Alumni. The Kansas group needs to raise a 14,000 square-foot livestock pavilion that was destroyed by the F-5 tornado last May.

Labor to rebuild the structure will be provided by the New York Says Thank You Foundation and some local volunteers affiliated with McLean County 4-H hope to go do some of the construction work, as well.

Funds will be collected locally until August 15 for this project. After that date, any funds taken in will be sent on to the Kansas 4-H Foundation to offset other replacement needs. For more information, contact Theresa Chambers at McLean County Extension, (309) 663-8306.
