Donations for Don
"Thanks, Don!" The Timeless Clovers 4-H Alumni passed out "Thanks, Don!" stickers at their 2010 McLean County 4-H Show booth. All over the fairgrounds, people of all ages could be seen sporting the greeting in tribute to retiring McLean County Extension Director Don Meyer. Meyer ended his 27-year Extension career just after the fair in August. In honor of Don's years of service to McLean County Extension, the McLean County Extension Foundation will accept donations to the Eugene Mosbacher 4-H Educational Fund in his name. The Mosbacher Scholarship was established in 1971 and is awarded each fall to selected current 4-H'ers who have completed high school and will attend an accredited college/university or technical school. Selection is based on 4-H activities, citizenship, leadership, and community involvement. To date, the scholarship has been offered to 104 4-H'ers.
Don is known for his enthusiasm for teaching, so contributions to the scholarship fund are a fitting way to recognize his leadership and his efforts to expand the opportunities offered through McLean County Extension.
Donations can be forwarded to Linda Smith at McLean County Extension office. Donations should be made payable to "Eugene Mosbacher 4-H Educational Fund" with Don Meyer in the memo line. For more information about this special honor for Don Meyer, contact Ruth Poppe at 815/945-7126 or grppoppe@verizon.net.
