Tree Walk at Illinois Wesleyan Campus on June 19

"University of Illinois Extension is celebrating the language of trees this spring and summer with a Tree Walk Series," states University of Illinois Extension Horticulture Educator, Kelly Allsup. Join us in different locations throughout the area for a late spring tree walk series to learn and identify several different species with notable characteristics. Many people can identify an oak or maple by leaf but do not know how to identify a black walnut by its leaf scar or bark. Another advantage of attending these walks is to associate you with diverse trees that you may choose to highlight in your own gardens.

On June 19, Travis Cleveland, Extension Specialist will visit the diverse ornamentals on the Illinois Wesleyan University Campus in Bloomington from 9:30-11 a.m. and again from 1:30-3 p.m.

All gardeners are encouraged to attend this journey throughout three very well-known public spaces in our area. Please register at https://web.extension.illinois.edu/lmw/register/ and a nominal $5 fee to attend the walk. Participants will receive a color handout and notes on the trees covered in the walk. Each walk is limited to 25 participants for a better experience. Join us on a tree walk series around the community to learn and identify several different species with notable characteristics during this time of year.
