Wolf Spiders

Description:
Commonly found but is not poisonous. The size varies because the females are larger than the males and live longer. They come out to feed on insects at night. They can have a painful bite.

How to tell the difference between wolf spider and brown recluse:

Brown recluse has a violin shaped marking behind the head. Wolf spiders have three rows of eyes: 4 small: 2 larger: 2 medium sized.

Phil Nixon's Recommendations:
Remove accumulations of fallen leaves, mulch, and other dead organic matter next to the outside foundation of the house. Caulk cracks and crevices with silicon sealer. Reduce humidity and moisture in the crawlspace or basement. An outdoor foundation spray will reduce the movement of these spiders indoors but is temporary. The other above recommendations are more permanent. Refer to the Home, Yard, and Garden Pest Guide for insecticide recommendations.
