McLean County Ag In The Classroom

McLean County Ag In The Classroom

Agriculture in the Classroom is a partnership between University of Illinois Extension, McLean and McLean County Farm Bureau. Many other agriculture organizations and businesses help support this important program. The goal is to educate youth and adults about the importance of agriculture to our society and to show that agriculture is more than cows and plows.

Here are some of the things we do.

  • Loan ag literacy kits to schools to help teach about various agriculture topics. These kits have lesson plans and most items to complete the lessons included.
  • Classroom presentations upon request for grades PreK-12 including day cares on topics such as general agriculture, wheat, pigs, farm machines, plants, pumpkins, ag careers, soil, apples, corn, soybeans, dairy, and more!
  • Many FREE resources for teachers including the loan kits, Ag Mags, soy crayons, coloring books and more.
  • Provide educators with a monthly newsletter detailing new resources, upcoming events and more.
  • Workshops and presentations for teachers where they can earn CPDUs.
