Partner Mission: Contains more than 150 acres of native timber and restored prairie. Visitors are invited to hike the peaceful grounds and trails, abundant wildlife and native plants. A variety of programs and events offer unique opportunities for all interested age groups. Fugate Woods also presents a living classroom environment for the public and charitable/educational organizations.

What Master Naturalists Do There: Habitat management, invasive species removal, offer events, and teach at four locations: Fugate Woods, Sunbury Prairie, James Family Woods, and the Bluestem Trail.

Partner Mission: In 1975, Joseph K. Jobst and the Trust began to develop Humiston Woods Nature Center as an outdoor classroom. The Woods has over 160 varieties of native plants and accompanying wildlife to enjoy.

What Master Naturalists Do There: The log building houses the Apollos Camp-Bennet Humiston Trust office and meeting room. It is available by appointment for school groups, meetings, retreats, and workshops.

What Master Naturalists Do There: Tending to the native plant garden at the visitor center, assisting with planting native vegetation in the lake, helping with removal of invasive species, maintaining hiking/biking trails, assisting with various events scheduled at the lake are just a few of the ways you can volunteer.

Partner Mission: To preserve, protect and ecologically restore important natural lands in the middle and upper Mackinaw Valley watershed. These areas are dedicated primarily to preserving the biological diversity of native plants and wildlife, and secondarily for passive public recreation, environmental educational and scientific research.

What Master Naturalists Do There: Most of the volunteer opportunities with ParkLands involve land stewardship activities such as removal of invasive species (garlic mustard pulling, cutting honeysuckle, etc.), planting trees, site clean-ups, etc. Volunteers can also lead nature tours/hikes on ParkLands properties (with coordination of the Land Steward).
