Imagine Blog for Illinois Master Gardeners

Climate Friendly Gardening Resources

With the concern over the current drought in the Midwest and other extraordinary weather changes over the last few years- Master Gardeners are often asked about climate changes and how these affect our gardens and plants.

Several good research based resources are currently available:

1. From the University of Kentucky check out this fact sheet http://www.ca.uky.edu/agc/pubs/id/id191/id191.pdf

2.The CoCoRaHS program has a slide set that discusses this topic, among other climate and gardening topics. http://www.cocorahs.org/Content.aspx?page=MasterGardener

3. I like this pub from the Union of Concerned Scientists-

Many states use these publications as part of their Master Gardener trainings.
