University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners Await Your Gardening Question Calls

University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners are ready and eager to take your calls Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – Noon. They are available to answer your lawn, garden, tree, and pest questions. University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners are volunteers who have completed over 95 classroom hours of training in botany, turf, plant pathology, herbs, roses, ornamental grasses, landscape design, native trees & shrubs, woody ornamental, insects, fruits, vegetables, soils, pesticide safety, composting, and wildlife nuisance control.

This free service is available to all those needing assistance with their lawn or garden. To reach a Master Gardener in Edwardsville call 650-7050. In Belleville call 236-4172.

You may also bring a sample of a plant, tree, or insect for identification or diagnosis. Samples can be left at the office anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. In Edwardsville visit the U of I Extension office at 900 Hillsboro Avenue, or in Belleville at 621 South Belt West.

For those problems needing further diagnosis there is a Plant Clinic on the campus of University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana. The Plant Clinic functions as a clearinghouse for plant problems sent to the U of I. Services include plant and insect identification, diagnosis of disease, insect, and weed problems, nematode assays, and help with nutrient related problems, as well as management recommendations involving these diagnoses. There is a minimal fee associated with these diagnostic services.
