Family Mealtimes are about more than just eating—they are about conversation and family connections too. Mealtimes are about joining one generation to the next, creating a shared family identity, resolving conflicts, planning schedules, improving health and creating lasting rituals.
"The average family mealtime takes only 20 minutes and is packed with importance," according to Janice McCoy, Family Life Educator with University of Illinois Extension. "Joining the Generations with Family Mealtimes shares the latest research on why family meals are important and how to make the most of them," McCoy says.
Whether it is a small gathering of your nuclear family or a large event with extended kin, Joining the Generations with Family Mealtimes, will help you will learn how to talk during mealtimes and enhance your relationships.
A University of Illinois Extension family life educator, will conduct the seminar on Wednesday, January 18th at 1:30 p.m. at University of Illinois Extension, 900 Hillsboro Avenue, P. O. Box 427, Edwardsville. This program will be taught via Meeting Place technology with the voice of the instructor and a Power Point presentation as others around the state participate.
There is a $5 charge for handouts for this event. To register, mail a $5 check to University of Illinois Extension, P. O. Box 427, Edwardsville, IL 62025.
