"A Beginner's Cooking Camp- ABC's to Good Health" summer program served as an early intervention, hands-on training camp for youth in Madison-St Clair County. The goal of the camp was to have youth ages 6 to 16 become acquainted with how to choose and prepare healthy food for themselves and their families. The participants also gained knowledge and experience engaging in regular physical activity.
Each camper engaged in 12 hours of instruction and activity from University of Illinois Extension staff. Evaluation results show an increase in overall knowledge gained of 40%.
