Here are some other ideas on ways to spend less. Check the ones you would like to try.

	Don’t buy it	Hint – is there something else you can do besides buying an item – rent it, borrow it, trade it with someone else, etc.
	Borrow items	Hint – ask a neighbor if you can borrow the ladder or lawn mower, yard tool, cup of sugar, music CD, etc.
	Find the best buy	Hint – comparison shop, read the ads, review Consumers report, or do a search online.
	Make it	Hint – some things can be made if you have the skills, such as decorating a cake for a child’s birthday, making clothes, refinishing furniture, etc.
	Rent or hire	Hint –rent the equipment to clean your carpet, or hire someone to do the task, like changing the oil in your car.
	Find it free	Hint – have you traveled in neighborhoods on garbage day? You could find pieces of furniture, old lawn mowers, children’s toys, etc. that someone is throwing away.
	Trade	Hint – Have you ever traded babysitting services with another person? Or you might be able to trade movie DVDs or music CDs with a friend instead of buying new.
