Great day for geese
This weekend brought the projected warm up and precipitation, close to 3/4 of an inch in most of northern Illinois. Some frost is still in the ground, evidenced by ponding and the appreciative geese. Are we losing nitrogen? It is likely, the fields are simply too muddy in Morris to allow a trek to observe if the tile lines are running, but I suspect they are. No snow days!
No snow days for farmers, especially if you have livestock. Our snowfall (once melted) at the NIARC was .86 inches from Tuesdays storm. Will 2013 replicate 2012? Seeing green
That's right; I plan on seeing green this weekend. No, I'm not going to the unofficial St. Patrick's festivities on campus. Another location where I expect lots of green (and gold) to be on display is at the Alpha Tau Chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho at Western Illinois University.
