A little relief

Posted by Russel Higgins - Corn

Scattered showers over recent days have brought relief to farmers and their crops. Most of our corn crop has progressed to R2 or R3 and we will start to get a better grasp on our potential yields. We are continuing making applications on several extended studies and have dug roots for our Rootworm evaluation trials. Bob Lawless of Syngenta visited us yesterday to evaluate roots from his studies at the NIARC.

The Grundy County 4-H Fair takes place this weekend and I have had the opportunity to observe the fevered pitch of activity among the 4-Hers and their parents as projects are finalized for the show. Congratulations to all those who proudly represent 4-H and its mission. "4-H empowers youth to reach their full potential, working and learning in partnership with caring adults." Kudu's also to the support team; including parents, family, friends, fair volunteers, judges and extension workers who make the 2012 4-H Fair opportunities possible.
