Are the weeds dead?

Three tenths of an inch of rain over the weekend, putting the NIARC at .69 inches in July. Like many growers we are keeping a close eye on some over-sized weeds that were treated with post applications of herbicide. Experience has told us that weeds we thought were dead, actually were not! This is especially true when dealing with Giant ragweed. A busy day at the NIARC, Lisa Gonzini rated herbicide plots and made the final post application on soybean trials. Preliminary root digs took place in the entomology trials and a crop destruct trial was chopped/hoed/mowed. Finally, the first fungicide application made on the NIARCin 2013 was applied on our earliest planted corn in the date of planting trial.
