NWIARDC Research Agronomist to begin August 16, 2012

Posted by Angie Peltier -

Since Dr. Eric Adee's departure in July 2011, the NWIARDC has been down to one full time employee, Mr. Marty Johnson. Marty Johnson has single-handedly kept the Center operational, tilling, harvesting, spraying, fertilizing, planting, etc., etc., etc., since Eric's departure.

We are pleased to announce that Marty will be able to sleep a little more easily in the near future! Why? The University of Illinois' Department of Crop Sciences hired a recent graduate, Mr. Brian Mansfield, as the NWIARDC's Research Agronomist to begin on August 16, 2012. Brian was able to attend the Field Day on July 18. During his visit, I asked Brian to write a short description of himself:

Brian is originally from Greene County, IL where he was born and raised on a family farm. He received an A.S. from John Wood Community College, B.S. in Crop Science from the University of Illinois, and M.S. in Crop Science from the University of Illinois. His graduate work was in corn breeding, with focus on plant density tolerance of U.S. corn.

Welcome Brian!
