Corn-based Cropping Systems Project - Fact Sheets

Research and Extension personnel at the University of Illinois are now part of a USDA – National Institutes of Food and Agriculture Project called Cropping Systems Coordinated Agricultural Project (CSCAP): Climate Change, Mitigation, and Adaptation in Corn-based Cropping Systems.

Dr. Emerson Nafziger's long-term extended rotation and tillage experiment at the NWIARDC has been rolled into this large, nine-state, multi-institution project. As part of this project, the scope of the data being collected has been expanded to include insect population, disease incidence and severity, and greenhouse gas output in addition to the traditional grain yield and moisture data.

Many other researchers from many other disciplines are working on other aspects of this project. At a project meeting last year 12 of the researchers working on this project presented information about their portion of project. The topics varied from crop science to soil and water to social science. I have placed the fact sheets that accompanied their presentations on the NWIARDC website under the Corn Systems Coordinated Agriculture Project category in the General Resources section.
