Host Richard Hentschel discusses National Heart Month with Laura Barr, Extension Nutrition and Wellness Educator. Cardiovascular diseases are the number one killer worldwide. Cooking and eating healthy foods flavored with herbs for seasonings along with root vegetables and using less salt is great way to start. Laura says to start with a good check up to find your base levels of blood pressure and cholesterol as you begin any changes in exercise. Laura also talks about managing stress, alcohol and smoking and their impacts on our health.
