TIP OF THE MONTH:

Make Snacks Count

When you are hungry and need a little “pick-me-up” in the middle of the day, make that snack count—nutrition-wise that is. Choose fresh fruits or vegetables, a cube of cheese, yogurt or a frozen fruit juice bar. You can make your own fruit juice bars by putting fruit juice into coated paper cups and placing them in the freezer. When they begin to freeze, insert a plastic spoon for the “stick.” You can find lots of ideas for snacks on the Iowa State University’s Web site “Pick a Better Snack”.
