MarketReady is a program designed to help small and mid-sized producers understand the evolving commercial market opportunities for locally produced foods. The program will be held on Monday April 7, 2014 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at University of Illinois Extension Cook County, 2205 Enterprise Dr., Suite 501, Westchester, IL 60154.
The curriculum presented introduces a variety of important issues that producers should be aware of as they evaluate the potential opportunities. The training is based around best business practices identified by from commercial retail, restaurant and institutional buyers that are actively seeking to purchase from local farmers. MarketReady will help farmer selling fruits, vegetables, meat, and dairy improve their marketing strategy to succeed.

This workshop will be presented by Ellen Phillips and James Theuri, Local Food Systems & Small Farms Educators from the University of Illinois Extension. Cost for this program is $15 per person and includes lunch and handouts. Pre-registration is required by Thursday, April 3, 2014.
