Leadership Academy

Our Annual Leadership Academies are sponsored by United Counties Council of Illinois (UCCI) with programming provided by U of I Extension. Past sessions have included leadership fundamentals, organizational assessments for communications (i.e., generational, personality), approaches to engagement and decision-making, managing organizational transitions, team-building, economic development, ethics, strategic planning and implementation data for decision-making, election administration, community health, crisis management, and crisis communication.

The Leadership Academy provides leadership training on issues important to elected and appointed county officials. For anyone seeking to manage and lead more effectively, the academy offers a learning network and a connection to cutting edge information. The Curriculum is designed for county officials who want to explore new ideas and learn practical methods that are relevant to current issues, challenges and opportunities across the state. The five interactive sessions allow participants to learn, share, and apply on a variety of practical and innovative topics.
Course requirements:
Completion of the course requires active participation at no fewer than four of the five sessions and completion of an essay or final project that describes the learning experience with expectations for application. Those who complete the course will receive a certificate of achievement from the University of Illinois, and will be recognized at a final ceremony.
Participation:
There are no fees for registration, meals, materials, or lodging, but you must apply to participate. Participation is limited, and it is often necessary to limit registration to one or two individuals from each county. Those accepted to participate will be notified. Before you apply, please make sure
