Cara Allen is a family life educator with the University of Illinois Extension. Cara has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Quincy University and a Master's in Social Work (specialization: Child and Family Issues) from the University of Missouri in Columbia. In addition, she has been an Illinois Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) since 1995.
As a family life educator, Cara is available to provide educational leadership in a variety of life issues, with emphases on parenting, aging, healthy lifestyles, and supporting those who provide care for adults. Her special interest is in the area of early childhood, focusing on the supporting the relationship between parents/caregivers and children to maximize children's developmental potential.
For the past 16 years, Cara has worked in a variety of roles with families of young children. In the beginning of her career, she worked with adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities.
