Doug Gucker is a Local Food Systems and Small Farms Extension educator with University of Illinois Extension. He works with local producers and consumers to increase the availability of locally grown foods. In addition, his duties include being a local resource for agricultural issues within the DeWitt, Macon, & Piatt County Extension unit. Doug's areas of interest are:  agricultural entrepreneurship, beekeeping, cover crops; farm management; forages and pastures; integrated pest mangement; native prairie restoration; soil health; water quality with regard to agriculture; and urban farming systems. His previous work experiences include: agricultural technical service representative; small Illinois grain and livestock farmer; and natural resource conservation agronomist.

Doug has bachelor degrees in biology and agronomy; and a master's degree in agronomy. He is an Illinois Certified Crop Adviser (CCA). His professional affiliations include the American Society of Agronomy, National Association of County Agricultural Agents, the Soil and Water Conservation Society, Illinois Forage & Grassland Council and Epsilon Sigma Phi - national Extension professional development society.
