Registration for the 2014 Junior Leadership Conference is now closed. We have reached the maximum number of youth we can accommodate at the conference. If you have questions or want to be added to a waiting list, please contact Dan Boomgarden at the Illinois State 4-H Office, 217-333-0910

Registration/Check in for the Conference will be at 10:00am on Saturday February 8. The Conference will end at 11:30am on Sunday February 9.

Citizens to the Rescue
You don't have to be super to be a hero. Start your hero's journey by making cards for those in need. We will also be accepting donations and discussing how you can be a hero in your club, your community, your country, and your world.

Avengers Assemble to Harness the Wind
Explore the wonders of renewable energy and wind power. The world is in danger of being destroyed by the harmful burning of fossil fuels and we need a superhero's help! By working in teams and constructing a wind turbine, YOU could be the next great superhero to save our planet!

Removing the Mask of Animal Welfare
Unmask the stereotypes of animal welfare judging and then use those same concepts in how you view people. See how first impressions aren't always accurate and we need to open our minds to how we accept people for who they are.

Superheroes. Must. Achieve. Realistic. and Timely. (SMART) Goals
Join the YLT Superheroes to learn all about SMART Goals! Help achieve your potential as a super leader by learning how to set smart goals and implement them in everyday life. Discover how you can set smart goals for yourself and for others to take your leadership skills up, up, and away to be the best leader you can be!

Fighting the Evils of Conforming
Fight the evils of conforming and learn how to be an original, a rare gift that is lost in our society today. Open your eyes to what peer pressure is and how to deal with it in everyday life. Learn the dangers of the Internet and how to combat the villains of the Internet. You'll leave this session as a Hero; equipped to help others become Heroes also.




Cost and Registration

Delegates are also required to complete and mail in advance the pieces listed below. These pieces must be postmarked by Friday, January 24, 2014. You can also email ( or fax (217-333-9287) your forms to the State 4-H Office. Chaperones must register on-line at the same website and are required to complete the same three pieces of paperwork mentioned above.

Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellations prior to 5:00 p.m. on January 1, 2014 will receive a full refund.

Cancellations made between January 1 (5:00 p.m.) and January 13 (5:00 p.m.) will receive a 85% refund.

Cancellations between 5:00 p.m., January 13 and January 20 (5:00 p.m.) will receive a 50% refund.

No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after 5:00 p.m. on January 20, 2014.

All cancellations and refund requests must be received IN WRITING by the State 4-H Office by 5:00 p.m. on the date specified in order to receive any portion of a refund. Requests may be faxed (217/333-9287) or e-mailed to Dan Boomgarden (







The Illinois 4-H Foundation will offer a limited number of $25 scholarships for first-time 4-H member attendees. Youth must apply for these scholarships by early January. Some local Extension offices may offer scholarships for delegates and chaperones; individuals should check with their local University of Illinois Extension staff about that possibility.
4-H JLC Scholarship Application is due by Friday, December 20, 2013.

Workshops 2014 Illinois 4-H Junior Leadership Conference Scholarship Application


Chaperones must register on-line at the same website and are required to complete the same three pieces of paperwork mentioned above.
Adult Chaperones must be age 21 and must have been approved by the University of Illinois Extension Volunteer Screening procedures. They must also have completed the on-line Overnight Chaperone Orientation Certification at Chaperones will be expected to be responsible for a maximum of 10 youth of the same gender.
