Woodford County 4-H Hunting and Outdoor Skills Course

October 7, 2017 (9:00 AM )

Secor Sportsman's Club
County Road 2250 E
Secor, IL 61771 (Woodford County)

The Hunting and Outdoor Skills Course encompasses a variety of topics and will have a study portion alternating with a hands-on learning portion. In cooperation with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), participants who qualify through attending the minimum number of workshops will be eligible to take their Hunter/Safety Certification test at the conclusion of the workshops.

This is open to ALL youth who are at least 8 years old, and not more than 18 years old, by September 1, 2017. There is a $20 fee to enroll in any Woodford 4-H Club. If this is the only club you are enrolled in, the fee may be paid at the time of enrollment. If you are actively enrolled in another Woodford 4-H club, you will not need to pay the enrollment fee twice. No child will be turned away for lack of the ability to pay, and fee waiver forms are available in the Extension office or on the website.

According to the policies of the IDNR, youth under the age of 10 must be accompanied to and during the safety education classes by an adult or guardian at least 16 years of age. The IDNR also requires attendance at least 10 of the sessions in order to take the test to receive the Hunter Safety Card. There is no fee to take the test for the Hunter Safety Card.

A completed Medical Form and Release of Risk form must be completed for each child enrolling in this project before they will be allowed to participate. These forms are available in the Extension office or on the website. You may return the completed forms to the Extension office or bring them with you to the first session on October 7. You can find the forms here:

To help with preparations for the room and printed materials, advanced registration is encouraged by October 4, 2017.
