The Shelter Animal Volunteer Education Series (S.A.V.E.S)

April 13, 2018

University Of Illinois Extension, Matteson Office
4747 Lincoln Mall Drive Suite 601
Matteson, IL 60443 ( County)

The Shelter Animal Volunteer Education Series (S.A.V.E.S) is a training for individuals interested in volunteering at small animal shelters.  As well, current volunteers that want a more in-depth understanding of husbandry and handling techniques, and small animal disease processes, are encouraged to register.

The training, created and taught by a licensed veterinarian, focuses on feline and canine care; and covers many topics including general husbandry and handling, parasitology, and zoonosis.

The desired outcome is to have dependable, knowledgeable, and accountable volunteers.  Ones that arrive at shelters with a foundation that can be built upon during experiential practice. The Shelter Animal Volunteer Education Series consists of three, two-hour sessions.

It is encouraged that participants commit to all three of the workshops as they are scaffolded and contain pertinent information.

Register for the S.A.V.E.S. program here: https://tinyurl.com/2018-S-A-V-E-S
