Super Saturday for Home and Community Education

Super Saturday is an event to train local leaders in our three county extension unit.  Choose one of three topics to take back and present in your community.   

The public is also invited to attend. So come join us! This program is free. We want to make sure guests are greeted and feel welcome when they arrive so please let our office know you are coming by calling 309-663-8306 or e-mail

Registration/ social time is from 9-10 a.m. Lessons start at 10:15 a.m. and plan to end about 11:15 a.m. Come early, have rolls and coffee, visit with friends, meet others from all three counties!

Lesson #1...  
"Beverages—Empty Calories or Not?" - will be presented by Jenna Smith, Nutrition and Wellness educator. Sports drinks, energy drinks, soda and flavored milks are all over the store shelves. Learn more about their nutritional content and their effect on our bodies.

Lesson #2...
"Points of Interest in Illinois" - Where can we go for a weekend? What's close by? We'll learn about some interesting little known places in Illinois to explore. Presented by Diane Edmund, experienced travel agent from Moline, IL

Lesson #3...
"Electronic Devices and Social Media" - Learn about new electronic devices—iPads, Nooks, Kindles, e-readers—all types of pad devices. You're not too old; they may be just what you need! Presented by a representative from Barnes and Noble, Bloomington, IL Bring any small electronic devices you have to this lesson.
