I. Extension Restructuring:

County Directors worked in conjunction with their Regional Directors regarding the total number of positions local budgets could accommodate under the new structure. After extensive review of the county budget, the Regional Director presented to the Extension Administrative team (Dr. Hoeft, Marilyn Brengle, John Horton, and Program Leaders for 4-H, ANR, CED, and Consumer & Family Sciences) the number of educator positions each of the multi-units within the NE region could support. The positions proposed for Cook County was seven. Those program areas were Family Life, Community & Economic Development, Ag & Natural Resources, and Youth Development. In addition, two federal targeted programs will remain part of the county (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program/EFNEP).

II. Educator Program Updates:

· The STEM team received a grant from Motorola for $50,200 in support of the "Science on the Go!"

· The Community Health team received $9,500 from AARP in support of a senior Women's Symposium

· Rhonda Hardy presented information about the upcoming "Local Government" Telenet series

· Marilu Andon announced upcoming 4-H events; shared information about volunteer opportunities; shared role descriptions for volunteering; and information about the "Expansion & Review Committee"

II. Cook County Director (Willene Buffett) Report

· Director Buffett is keeping townships around the county informed of the outreach efforts within their areas; concerted efforts to keep them informed where Extension has provided in-depth outreach.

III. Advisory Council Actions for Discussion

· Membership Drive is ongoing and each council member has been asked to provide the nominating committee two names of potential members

· Director Buffett also reviewed the 1-2 terms (1 term = 2 years and 2 terms= 4 years)
