Via Monodopad

Minutes

The Fulton-Mason-Peoria-Tazewell Extension Council met April 21, 2015 at the Pekin and Fulton U of I Extension Offices connected via monodopad. The meeting was called to order by Chair Amanda Woodruff at 6:30 p.m. Those present included Council members Amanda Woodruff, Cindy Chaffin, Sharon Spangler, Shundell Broomfield, James Harp, Cindy Hoerbert, Katelyn Pruitt, and Dr. John Asplund. Also present were Earl Allen, County Extension Director and Michelle Hartke, SNAP-Ed Unit Educator.

The secretary's report was read and approved.

Earl commented on the printed Annual 2014 report and the 2014 Annual Recap. He encouraged council members to take some and pass them on to make people aware of extension.

New staff member Michelle Hartke, SNAP-Ed Unit Educator, was introduced. The Unit Educator's focus is on institutions and organizations which include schools, healthcare businesses, and faith based organizations. She will be working with low income schools in the Fulton-Mason-Peoria-Tazewell Unit.

Earl provided fiscal summaries for FY 15 Trust Fiscal Report (July 1 2014 – March 31, 2015),

Annual Budget Plan (July 1, 2015 – June 30 2016), and the FY16 draft budget plan. The unit is looking good on the revenue side with the County Board's money almost all in. State funding as proposed by the governor for the FY16 budget includes a 31% cut to the University and a 20% cut to the state matching line. Earl stated that the Fulton-Mason-Peoria-Tazewell Unit should be able to weather the cuts for 2-3 years due to the reserves but expenditures will be tightened. Cindy moved and John seconded that we approve the FY 2016 budget. Motion passed.

Katelyn Pruitt, Extension Council youth representative reported on the 4-H legislative two day event held in March. A total of 60 4-H members talked to legislators and senators about 4-H and how it impacted them. The legislative event is funded thru University of Illinois.

The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Sharon Spangler
