New Consortium on PPCPs in the Environment Launched at the University of Illinois

The occurrence of emerging contaminants such as pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) and steroid hormones in  waterways has been recognized as a pressing environmental issue. The Illinois Sustainable Technology Center (ISTC)and Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant (IISG) have organized a consortium of researchers and individuals interested in working together to advance the state of knowledge about these contaminants --their fate, transport, and environmental and human health effects. To learn more about new PPCP research or opportunities for collaborations, please join us. We'll be meeting every other month at the ISTC.

The first meeting was held on September 24, 2015. Dr. Wei Zheng presented a seminar on his PPCP research at ISTC. The seminar is archived on the ISTC website at http://www.istc.illinois.edu/about/SustainabilitySeminar20150924.cfm. More on ISTC PPCP research can be found at http://www.istc.illinois.edu/research/ppcps/.
