Pear Spinach Salad

8 cups fresh baby spinach
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup vinegar
2 Tbsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
3 fresh pears, cored and chopped OR 2 cups canned pears, drained and chopped
1 cup dried cranberries or raisins
2 Tbsp. chopped walnuts or pecans, optional
1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion, optional
  1. Wash spinach leaves thoroughly. Drain well and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Salad dressing mix: Blend oil, vinegar, sugar, and garlic together.
  3. In a large bowl, combine spinach, pears, and cranberries or raisins.
  4. Pour salad dressing over salad and toss.
  5. Sprinkle onion and walnuts on top, if desired.

* French or poppy seed salad dressing may be substituted for salad dressing mix.
