Give each student a 9"x 9" piece of burlap on which to draw an apple with a piece of white chalk. After sewing directions are given, each student selects a plastic needle threaded with red, green or gold yarn. The apple shape is sewn using a running stitch. Plastic needles with brown and green yarn can be used to sew on the stem and leaves.
