How can I determine the MBF of a log? My grandson had both White Oak/Red Oak and Pine trees cut down today. I want him to be able to recoup some of his costs.

Thanking you in advance for your assistance.

To determine the board feet in a log, you will neeed to measure the diameter (inside the bark on the small end) and the length of the log.

This publication by the University of Missouri Extension has a chart that you can use those two measurements to look up the board feet - https://extension.missouri.edu/publications/g5050#volume
