News Release

4-H Pistol Club has Membership Openings

The 4-H Pistol Club has openings for new members for this fall. The club meets at the Highland Pistol & Rifle Club on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. The group is open to youth ages 12 and older, and will cost $13 per session. Previous 4-H membership is not required, new members are welcome, but space is limited.  Those interested in participating will need to call the Extension Office at 618-37-8881 to register.

Members of the Pistol Club will learn safe and responsible use of equipment.  This will include sound decision-making, self-discipline and concentration.  The club will also promote the highest standards of safety, sportsmanship and ethical behavior.   Special thanks to the local Elkhorn Creek Rack-a-Holics Chapter, Illinois 4-H Foundation, and the Washington County Farm Bureau for their assistance in funding this club.

There will be an adult shooting sports instructor training October 13-15.  More shooting sports instructors are needed in Washington County to continue to grow the program. For information on how you can become involved as an adult volunteer instructor, call the Washington County Extension Office at 618-327-8881.
