Information Resources for Raising Sheep and Goats

Have you ever considering getting into the sheep and goat business?  Well, one thing's for sure, you'll never have to go into your decision uninformed!  The National Sustainable Agriculture Information Service (commonly known as ATTRA), has just pulled together an extensive compilation of resources for those who are looking into raising small ruminants, i.e. sheep and goats.  Some of the highlights of the Small Ruminant Toolbox include a 978-page compendium of resources they are calling the Small Ruminant Resource Manual, the Tennessee Master Meat Goat Producer's Manual, and a Sheep and Goat FAQ.  As if that weren't enough, ATTRA also makes available a Small Ruminant Sustainability Checksheet, a Small Ruminant Resources page, and a wide variety of single-topic sheep and goat publications.  They even have a whole Small Ruminant Course available free online!  If you are wondering whether sheep and goats are a good enterprise to start a small farm, or even diversify an existing farm, you need to check this stuff out.  And feel free to call me, I can help you determine whether or not this is a path you really want to walk down before you read several thousand pages of information!
