Night of Conservation

NEWS RELEASE – PREPARED BY Jill Guynn, County Director

UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS EXTENSION – Bureau, LaSalle, Marshall, Putnam Unit

Improving habitat for landowners and for wildlife will be the focus of the upcoming program sponsored by University of Illinois Extension - Bureau, LaSalle, Marshall, Putnam Unit, Bureau County Farm Bureau, Bureau County Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Pheasants Forever and Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The program will be held on February 13 at the University of Illinois Extension – Bureau County Office in Princeton. The public is invited to participate.

“Whether you live on a farm or in an urban setting, wildlife is a part of your everyday life.  Many species have adapted their way of living to be your neighbor while others around us need our help to conserve their kind due to the pressure of a forever changing environment,” Daryle Wragge, Extension Ag Program Coordinator, encourages everyone interested to join in for a night of information.

The “Night of Conservation” program will be held at the Bureau County Extension Office located in Becker Professional Suites, Princeton. The program will begin at 7:00 p.m. Highlighted topics and speakers include:

  •  Importance of Maintaining & Enhancing Wildlife in Our Communities:

Peggy Doty, Extension Educator, Environmental and Energy Stewardship

  • Conservation Reserve Program Options/Soil & Water Conservation Practices to Enhance Wildlife Habitat: Erika Luft, NRCS District Conservationist
  • Bird & Habitat Enhancement and Wetland Improvement: Jason Bleich, Pheasants Forever Farm Bill Biologist
