Putnam County Fifth Grade Take "Incredible Journey"

Putnam County Fifth Grade Take “Incredible Journey”

Water molecules are in constant motion throughout our Earth. To illustrate the varied paths they might take, fifth grade students at Putnam County Elementary recently played “The Incredible Journey” game provided by University of Illinois Extension Marshall Putnam Ag in the Classroom. This game illustrates to the student how water travels through the water cycle. Instead of a predictable two dimensional path as many simple diagrams illustrate, individual drops circulate from one state of matter to another in a random path. Students identified the different places water might move. During the game they used dice to determine their drop’s path. They drew diagrams of the irregular path unique to their individual water drop. Students then explained their diagram and how it might have happened.
