U of I Extension Offers Program on Urban Soil Safety

The Summer Series of the Four Seasons Gardening program from University of Illinois Extension continues with a session titledUrban Soil Safety.”

Gardening in urban environments has unique risks and rewards. Gardeners can increase food security, build community, and increase local green spaces, but need to be cautious because of soil contamination and quality. In this webinar, you will learn from Extension Horticulture Educator, Gemini Bhalsod about common urban soil contaminants and recommended best practices.

This program will be offered via a live webinar on Tuesday, July 31st at 1:30 p.m. at the following University of Illinois Extension Offices: Bureau County in Princeton; Marshall-Putnam Counties in Henry; and LaSalle County in Ottawa. Please call the appropriate County office to register at least two days in advance. This webinar may also be viewed from wherever you have internet access on either Tuesday July 31st at 1:30 p.m., or Thursday, August 2nd at 6:30 p.m., by pre-registering at go.illinois.edu/4seasons_webinars. Recorded videos of these sessions can be viewed following the program at go.illinois.edu/fourseasonsrecordings

This is the second session of the Summer series. The next program titled “At-Home Micropropagation: In Vitro Plantsis set for Tuesday, August 14th at 1:30 pm and Thursday, August 16th at 6:30 pm.
