Second Annual Youth Bike Workshop offered

Second Annual Youth Bike Workshop offered

University of Illinois Extension, in partnership with the Princeton Pedestrian and Bicycle Commission, will be offering a free youth bicycle workshop during Bike Safety Month.  Youth ages 6-18 are invited to attend this fun, informative workshop on Wednesday, May 15th from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.  at the Perry Memorial Hospital employee parking lot, corner of Park Avenue and 5th Street, Princeton.

Those in attendance will be led through multiple stations to learn about safety, maintenance, and more from Princeton Bicycle Patrol Officers, Bicycle Commission members, and bicycle enthusiasts.  A meal will be provided at the conclusion of the workshop.

“I am ecstatic to extend the invitation to area youth to attend this popular event,” Danielle Saletzki, University of Illinois Extension 4-H & Youth Program Coordinator shared.  “Participants will be able to acquire knowledge and skills that can be utilized as a family recreational activity.”

Interested youth may register by visiting or by calling the University of Illinois Extension at 815-875-2878.  Space is limited to the first 25 registered.  Deadline to register is May 8th. Illinois 4-H is the largest out-of-school youth organization in Illinois, challenging youth to “learn by doing” with fun, hands-on activities that teach skills for living.

If you need a reasonable accommodation, please indicate when registering. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time for meeting your access needs. For more information call University of Illinois Extension – Bureau, LaSalle, Marshall, Putnam Unit Office at 815-224-0889. Extension offices are located in Princeton, Ottawa, Henry and in Oglesby on the IVCC campus.
