Money Smart Week 2012 Is Here

What: Money Smart Week is eight days during which programs and events on every financial topic imaginable are offered to help consumers learn how to manage their personal finances. The effort is led by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

When: April 21-28, 2012. Hundreds of free classes, seminars and activities promoting financial education will take place throughout the week.

Where: Throughout Illinois, all across the Chicago area, and in other regions of the country (map). And if there isn't an organized Money Smart Week effort in your community, you may still have a library who is participating through the Money Smart Week @Your Library effort.

Who: The week's activities are open to everyone. There are workshops for teens, adults and retirees. There are programs for those who are struggling financially and for those who are stable. The programs and workshops are coordinated and presented by partner organizations that include financial institutions, community groups, local government agencies, schools and colleges, including University of Illinois Extension.

How can I learn more? A searchable online calendar is available at

University of Illinois Extension has been an active Money Smart Week partner since the first Week was organized in 2002. You can find Extension events year-round on our calendar.
