Save the Date for Money Smart Week

Money Smart Week is a great way to celebrate Financial Literacy Month with educational and fun events! Money Smart Week begins in our communities April 20th through the 27th.

Launched in 2002, the program is now active in more than 41 states through national partnerships with the American Library Association and the Financial Planners Association. New 2013 national partners include the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) Cooperative Extension and the Certified Financial Planners Board of Standards.Beyond national partners, events are coordinated and hosted by hundreds of local partner organizations including banks, universities, government, community groups and libraries.

Money Smart Week is designed to promote financial literacy across all age groups. We will have hundreds of events throughout Illinois this year!  You are likely to have programs near you.

In many communities, Money Smart Week kicks off  Saturday April 20th in the morning with Money Smart Kids Read: a special time for children at local libraries. Other topics during the week include:

  • credit,
  • home maintenance,
  • investing,
  • retirement planning,
  • financial fraud,
  • banking,
  • saving for children's education,
  • free shredding, and much more!

All programs are free and no sales presentations are allowed. For the most up to date calendar of events, please visit Hope to see you at an event, April 20 - 27!
