LEADership program participants toured the Abraham Lincoln Museum, located on the first floor of the historic Christian County Courthouse and heard from local elected officials serving Christian County residents.

University of Illinois Extension partnered with Taylorville Memorial Hospital on March 8 for a hands-on roasting class. Twenty participants learned basic oven roasting techniques, what foods roast best, equipment needed, tips & tricks for roasting.

LEADership Participants travel to Springfield; Learn about State Government
The group met with: Illinois Representative Avery Bourne, Senator Andy Manar, U.S. Representative Rodney Davis’ aide-Tyler Cravens & local Taylorville office liaison-Meg Kettlekamp and Pam Weber who is a lobbyist for Extension Partners.
Approximately 80 educators from Staunton High School participated in a poverty simulation. The simulation entitled “Community Action Poverty Simulation” (CAPS) promotes a greater understanding of poverty through a live-action simulation.

Pioneer Production Plant Agricultural Tour-Feb 28
Macoupin & Montgomery County 4-H members toured the Litchfield Pioneer Soybean Production Plant on Feb 28. Plant Manager Tony Herman and his employees provided valuable information about soybeans and careers in agriculture.
Macoupin County Health Jam
4-H Health Jam kicked off at Carlinville Intermediate School on February 22. Carlinville Intermediate school is a five time Health Jam school. Youth were immersed in a variety of activities encouraging a more healthy lifestyle.
