Master Showmanship Contest—July 9

The Master Showmanship Contest is a popular event for Jersey County 4-H Livestock kids. This year’s judge was Steve Austin of Mount Vernon.

Youth participating are judged on their knowledge of three species-Beef-Sheep and Swine. A participant can borrow an animal from another 4-H member if they do not own that particular specie.

There were two age divisions, Junior ages 8 to 13 and Senior Division ages 14 to 19. The Senior Division winner goes onto the Illinois State Fair in August to compete.

Those participating were: Clay Wadlow, Bo Richey, Clay Richey, Elaina Walsh, Jocelyn Krueger, Taylor Richey, Ashley Moore, Clayton Poppe, Jenna Moore, Jamie Moore, Brett Schiller, Chase Meisner, and Simon Sarginson.

The grand champion winners of both divisions took home embroidered bag chairs sponsored by Jersey County 4-H Foundation. The winner of the Senior Division was also awarded a gift card from Farm Credit Illinois.
