Reduce Diabetes Risks with Wake Up Call Prediabetes Nutrition Workshop in Macon

MACON – More than 1 and 3 adults in Illinois have prediabetes, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. Higher than normal blood glucose levels raise your risk of heart disease and stroke as well as type 2 diabetes. This February, learn how you can lower your diabetes risk in a free University of Illinois Extension class Wake Up Call – Eating to Avoid Diabetes.

Join Extension Nutrition & Wellness Educator Caitlin Mellendorf from 10:30 to 11:30 am. February 5 at the South Macon Public Library, 451 W. Glen St., Macon. Learn about small steps you can take, from losing a small amount of weight to choosing healthier foods, that can help prevent prediabetes from developing into diabetes. To sign up, contact Vicki at 217.762.3356 or southmaconlibrary@gmail.com by February 1.
