DECATUR – Wipe away those winter blues and get excited about spring with the 22nd-annual Gardening Insights. This February, explore your interests and choose from a dozen exciting hands-on and research-based sessions, network with area gardeners and learn from keynote speaker and nationally known garden expert Melinda Myers.

Gardening Insights will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, February 16 in Richland Community College’s Shilling Center, 1 College Park, Decatur. Doors open at 8 a.m. for walk-in registration, check-in and vendor shopping. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged as classes fill quickly.

The cost for the day is $35, which includes three classes, the keynote speaker and lunch. Hands-on classes may have additional costs. Register by February 12 at go.illinois.edu/dmp or call the Macon County Extension Office at (217) 877-6042.
Sessions include monarch butterfly basics, using natural woods, improving your garden soil, landscaping, design concepts and soil testing. Hands-on classes will cover creating rain barrels, flower arranging, exploring garden trends and building bug, gnome or fairy houses.

The keynote speaker Melinda Myers will discuss Well Loved Illinois Garden Plants.
